The local historical and archeological sites, such as Perperikon are very much still unspoilt by tourism. Open sites mean visitors can actually see the artifacts and monuments without being hampered by barriers and glass cabinets. For those who enjoy discovering the past and understanding history,
Bulgaria is very much an untapped resource.
